Yamaha xv700 Virago is a bike almost identical to xv750 Virago except its cylinders volume is reduced from 748 cm3 to 699 cm3. In 1984. US introduced big custom taxes for import of foreign bikes with more than 700 cm3. Because of that the cylinders volume from xv750 was intentionally reduced to 699 cm3 in order to fit into lower taxes range and from xv750 the new model xv700 become.
This model was being only temporarily produced in period from 1984. until 1986. When high custom taxes were withdrawn, the production of xv750 was continued.
